Lord Stanley Beats All the Toys in Your Yard...

I have NO IDEA why I changed the title, but I am prone to such acts of whim - and I do know that even after the Capocalypse is apparently half over that...

Lord Stanley beats
All the toys in your yard
And my team is better than yours,
Damn right, still better than yours,
Stan will trade with you,
But he'll have to charge...

Possible T-shirt design?

Here's some miscellaneous stuff that I put together over the past two weeks. Parodies of the 1985 Chicago Bears "Super Bowl Shuffle," the movies "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "It Came from Outer Space" and "Deliverance," and a couple random photoshops. I have another FanPost with twice as many photoshops to put up, but I'll wait at least a few days.

No one reads what I write (I always knew you were a smart bunch SCH), so let's get right to the (hopefully) funnies...

Star-divide

Salary Cup Shuffle

That's a "Sanford and Son" reference for all you young-uns who missed out on quality TV.

Not since Jesus Christ or Bernard Epton (the old timers will get that one) have Chicagoans put so much faith in a Jewish man to perform a miracle.

Cup Encounters

Because of this photoshop, my 4 year old now thinks the Stanley Cup is a space ship.

That would be my attempt at Chelsea Dagger for anyone left confused.

Notice what's on TV?? I couldn't have planned that better.

Miscellaneous Photoshops

These two really make it too easy...

Dollar Bill Wirtz

I couldn't decide what version I liked the best, so against my better judgment I will leave it up to you all.

(FYI, Bill's text in all-caps is the only part of his speech that is different in each version)

My Cap thoughts

Thanks to all the thoughtful and informative comments. I feel like I’ve been able to distill a wisdom of crowds thing here and can now comment intelligently.

My list of who the Hawks must keep:

1. Sharp
2. Bolland
3. Nintendo
4. Versteeg
5. Ladd
6. Buff
7. Nemo

Huey is at least cut in half, and Buff (MV peak) looks like a goner.

I wouldn’t bend over backwards on Nemo. Very good playoff, especially against SJ, but it’s worth noting that Michael Leighton also made the SCF, while Miller, Hiller, Halak, Vokoun, Lu, and Marty were long gone.

My gut says the Hawks resign Nemo, Nintendo, and Ladd for cheaper than many expect.

I predict the Hawks lose Versteeg, cuz Ladd comes in crucailly cheaper, and the stage will be set for someday when the nightmare of Versteeg killing the edfitors of this blog, albeit in a different sweater, will come to frutiion.

Gentlemen! I have invented...this thing!

It simply won't be possible to keep them all - along with Kane, Toews, Keith, Hosa, etc.

I've been busy in my workshop...

I was watching the Italy-New Zealand match yesterday. Those horns were a million times worse than any whistler at the UC. And then that “horn” goal celebration where the one Italian player blew into the other guy’s mouth – um, let’s just say you wouldn’t see that in hockey. (okay, that last sentence really is WRONG on so many levels, but so was the celebration)

This is like the 5th time I've looked at these today

Every time I think one of them is my favorite, I decide I like another just as much or more. Each one of them is funny in it’s one right which is impressive because typically cartoonists will have two or three frames leading up to the punchline, but these all stand on their own. I even like all four of the Bill Wirtz ones pretty equally.

I can’t believe that “none of the above” and “Johnson” have 35% of the vote! Shame. Please email me your addresses so I can sent you a sense of humor! :P

I'm not anti-social; I'm just not user friendly

This is actually the idea that led to my next FanPost that I mentioned I will be putting up in a few days. This FanPost is basically that concept in its infancy, where I am starting to organize things into more coherent themes. Interesting that you caught that. Thanks

I loved the caption on the one with Hoss and Kop, but I am now disliking the mental image it created.

but I figured I’d let everybody else do the commenting. So, what they said about the pics.

I’ll put in a word for the poetry though, that is a sweet, sweet touch.

I voted 3, but now that I get 4, I like it too. Though I think in both cases I like the idea 150% and the execution 98%… they’re almost there!

Great job, CNS!

One question – what is Hossa’s right arm reaching for in the Cup kissing picture??

by Katherine215 on Jun 22, 2010 9:53 AM CDT reply actions

Not sure

But I THINK you can see his fingers holding the Cup underneath the bowl, though that could be Kopecky’s….

Other than that I’m not going to say anything on that subject- don’t need any more disturbing images.

If this ends up getting around on the internetz, it was nice knowing you all because I completely expect Hossa to have the Russian mafia hunt me down.

Far be it from me

to dispel any rumors involving Kop and Hoss but I heard or read after the on ice celebration or parade that Kop’s kid (don’t recall if it was a son or a daughter) was there with him. I didn’t hear/read anything about a wife though.

well, Hossa encourages it

I liked the red version of milkshake better

does the new one imply that all other teams players are toys? and if so what kind of toys? Like cool toys like GI Joe and Legos? or like dirty toys like double headed dildos? Or are they shitty toys like…well basically every toy kids play with now a days?

Remember back in the day

when guys like Mikita, Koroll, Magnuson, Tony O (except for a few games his 1st year with Montreal), etc, etc, played their entire careers for the same team? I do miss that about sports these days. I hope that the Hawks can make that happen with at least Keith and Toews.

But I guess even “back in the day,” players still often ended their careers elsewhere when it should have been with the Hawks. Pilote, Wilson and Larmer all stand out and to a lesser extent guys like Hull, Roenick, and Chelios who should never have left so young. At least Savy came back to retire in the Indianhead.

Damn it. All those stories in puppet’s fanpost are making me sentimental.

I agree.

That’s one of the reasons I’m not much of a baseball fan anymore. By the time I get to know the players they are playing for someone else. I can put up with it in hockey because I like hockey so much more than baseball. However, I do miss the days when it was not unusual for a player, stars, to stick with a team their entire career.
