Kruger’s scouting report has me giddy, even tho he along with Olimb will be probably be spending some time in Rockford before seeing time with the big club, unless something amazing happens with these two at camp come September (you never know).

Everything i read and hear about Morin makes me think he might have a chance of cracking the roster once the season starts. Blackhawk’s TVN on NHL.com has an interview with Stan where he states he was originally looking at and really pressing for Morin in last year’s draft but never got him. it will be interesting to see how this all manifests itself.

That why I keep saying I’m not worried. We’re going to be pretty stacked with draft picks and prospects because of our cap shedding moves. I’m hoping/expecting next year to be somewhat like 2008-09 with a young exciting team (but now being defending SC Champions!) that develops throughout the year and has potential in the playoffs.

And if their development continues on pace, we should also have some exciting guys coming up in 2-3 years.

but it might also be that – in many circumstances – he holds the puck in firing position until he sees what he wants in the way of a screen or angle/opening

the set we see isn’t conclusive either way – but some tracking of whether he has an elevated blocked shot rate would be informative

What I noticed most was how terrible the goalie looked on Olimb’s penalty shot. I mean, it was a sweet move, but that goalie looked like a monkey fucking a football.

I personally love how Olimb leaves his stick stuck in the goalie’s gear before doing his best “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED??” celebration to the crowd.

A-ha was from Norway like Olimb. Swedes and Norse like to poke fun at each other, so this might have been good-natured ribbing.

but on a goal like that, i think saying he “went out on a limb” fits Mathis well.
Especially if he keeps using that goal celebration!
