I still can't decide which one is better
I think History Has Been Made was more refined from an editing standpoint, and I wanted that one to be really special, so I guess as it’s creator, I side with that one. The pre season one I just finished is just as good as those two, so now I cant decide out of 3 which I like best

Someone used the palomino
and Meeshak said he thought it was more of a bay (which is a kind of horse).
How would you like a job where, every time you make a mistake, a big red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?
without killing it by explaining it too much,
a bay is a kind of horse, so is a palomino. I’m not quite sure why i find it so hilarious – maybe it was the delivery?
by Katherine215 on Aug 20, 2010 11:59 AM CDT up reply actions
Yeah, I understood that part
I dunno, maybe you had to be there. I found out about it in CNS’s fanpost either the next day or a few days later, so that maybe sucked the magic out of it.
I don't know,
I still crack up reading it. I think it’s just that it was so simple and dry. Maybe CNS can explain better?
by Katherine215 on Aug 20, 2010 12:05 PM CDT up reply actions
Well, it's probably my favorite all-time comment...
I posted that gruesome photo of the fat guy in panties next to a horse.
cliff stated “pretty sure that’s a palomino” referring to the photo.
Then meeshak replied “it’s more of a bay” referring instead to the horse in the photo.
Subtle, dry, had me in tears.

I went back to it
and suddenly it clicked. I thought cliff was saying “hey, look, that horse is a palomino!” which is why I was confused by the apparent hilarity of meeshak’s response. Wow, did that one go over my head…
jeez, just rereading what you posted

there was the one where Eamus
was talking about the girl he was dating, and how they’d give eachother sexual favors during the games or something. but he started dating her around when the hawks hit their huge slump and promised to break up with her if the Hawks didn’t improve by playoff time. I wonder if they’re still together……???
or we could always just go with one of hte LOTR ones here too.

I think the January blog when everyone was gone in St. Louis takes the cake.
It was pretty much mjthor vs. CNS. vs. Esquire. vs. everyone.

And you should skate with me and Toews will grind
Imagine how that line will be, we could score nine
So happy together

When you’re with me, Kaner you can shoot too
I love this line
Me and you and you and me
No matter how Q rolls the dice, it has to be
We’ll put up six on Lou, hat trick for me
So happy together

Ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba ba-ba-ba-ba
Me and you and you and me

The quotes in question
http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2010/5/19/1478450/heres-to-swimmin-with-bow-legged
Meeshak does Hemingway:
Hemingway wouldn’t have had a problem. He would have just written: Hossa won the puck. He passed. Hjalmarsson skated in from the neutral zone and wound up. She cried. There was always death in the air at a hockey game.
ChicoMaki does Twain:
Last night I had occasion to attend a sporting contest in the small farming community of San Jose, an affair of ice hockey that pledged ungodly skill and inhuman speeds and which did not disappoint in its promise. One scene in particular impressed; indeed, the mastery of the visiting squad silenced the home crowd often, and in pockets of especial despair, which were many, I spotted tears and piteous confusion of a scale reserved usually for large lost armies. Where at one point in the competition the home team—Sharks of some sort—had recovered some momentum, a single large panda sped into one end of the rink as a freight train might were it outfitted with a hundred thousand ice skates; this panda fought for the puck and in battle made his opposite number appear to be made from so much toilet tissue. He gained possession of this puck and directed it away from the net to a many-lettered teammate who, in his own turn, shot it toward the net. I say shot; verily, it was a rifle ball. I have only space enough to add: against the assault of desperate pandas nothing can stand.

The Blackhawks Prayer
(I posted this only 3 times) Before Game 6 vs. the Canuckians, before Game 4 vs the Fishies, and before Game 6 vs Chrissy Pronger got beat again, it seemed to work out well
For Our Banners in the Rafters,
Hockey be our game,
Our time has come,
it will be done,
as in ’34, ’38, and ‘61.
Give us today our series win.
Forgive us our penalties
as we punish those who penalty against us.
Lead us not to just winning
But to make it a decisive kill.
For all of the Glory, the Prestige and the Eternal Enshrinement,
For us and the fans forever.
Game On
After Kaner buried the dagger into Philly and lifted Chicago, I posted this one.
To Our Banners in the Rafters,
You number has increased by one,
Our time has come,
it has been be done,
as in ’34, ’38, and ‘61.
We have forgiven our foes.
For the Stanley Cup is ours
Toews Lead us not to just winning
But made it a decisive kill.
For all of the Glory, the Prestige and the Eternal Enshrinement,
For us and the fans forever.

Chicago Blackhawks: No Longer Rusted Steel on Slush!
Being a left handed shot,
I don’t think being right handed really has anything to do with Hockey. There was a post and an article earlier this year about lefty vs.righty shots. Canadians are predominantly left handed shots while the U.S. is right handed. My theory on this is that most U.S. kids play Baseball before they play Hockey and are already set in their ways. One other observation, most goalies are right handed and catch with their left hand. By default this makes them left handed shots.

work and training mostly
I’m working in Aurora (hour commute each way) starting at 6am daily and immediately following that going to my new coaching job (HS XC). Commute included, that’s a 13-hour day. On top of that I am training (running/cycling) 10-15 hours a week.
If you do the math, there isn’t much room for dicking around on the interbuttz.
I’ve also (very vocally) been quite disillusioned with the new culture of the site. However, I’m pretty pleased to see that a new group of regulars has developed and fostered a fairly humorous and quite knowledgeable core. Suffice to say this site no longer needs me.

First off,
why can she call me a dick first, yet I can’t respond by calling her the female version of a body part?
Secondly, in my circle “kitty-kat” is actually a compliment implying a pretty lady and that was how I was using it.( I even put a fukkn smiley face after it???)
You guys can have your site I am way too old for this shit.
well...
calling a guy is dick is nowhere close to the same as calling a girl a C***, fair or not its not comparable. plus big sis is always very short tempered she gets it from mom, so i wouldn’t take it to heart. i mean she tells me that shes gonna kill me pretty much daily, but we still somehow get along and i’m not dead yet..

well, it's my opinion
but mostly because the female version has a much more derisive connotation than calling someone a dick. (I’m pretty positive we’ve had this discussion on the site before…) It’s one of those words that aren’t really used on this site, along with homophobic slurs.
and as for “kitty-kat” meaning “pretty lady” in your circle – that’s fine. but how are we supposed to know that’s a compliment since 1) you don’t really know Katherine & vice-versa and 2) would you have referred to another female as kitty-kat? Perhaps- but here it just sounds like you were playing off Katherine’s name, so calling her that comes off as patronizing, even with the smiley face.
and yes....
we have had this convo before, it was the same time we had the homophobic slur convo, and i believe there was another type we talked about… i believe it might of been women sports

Now that is Irony
I just reply failed.
What I was going to say is, for what it is worth I apologize for my striking back with that word. I really wasn’t playing off her name but at least I now understand why the confusion.
BUT, I still feel that you can not say one form of name calling is worse than another; it all depends on what that specific word means to that person.
Things just don’t translate well through posts.
Allow me to opine
in my circle
This is not your circle. In my world some things that are accepted just do not jive here. You can call someone a pussy (if they deserve it, or are SCUM fans) or an Asshole (Like CNS), but some things just do not fly in “This” circle (I learned this from experience). Really is it too much to ask, or for others to state, calling someone a cunt is not appreciated.
Great in your real world click Kitty-Kat means something else, good for you. In mine, I have terms that would not be taken right here. If you want to have a spat, have fun, just try to watch the line. Really this is all to have fun being a Hawks fan and make fun of SCUM, Bluesers, and White Sox fans. I am serious when I ask
how the term “kitty-kat” can be taken offensively in any way. I can understand if the sentence it was used in started out negative but I was simply admitting to you that I was playing “devil’s advocate”.
You probably don’t speak like the following but if you responded to and ended it by saying, “Okie dokie DOGGIE DADDY” I wouldn’t be miffed at all( That’s from Pulp Fiction). See to me that is the same kind of slang and why I would never think someone would be bothered by it.
I have no reason to lie to you about the way I meant it; what could I gain from that?
it's condenscending, and infantilizing
especially when it seems to be playing off her name, it appears that you are trying to make her/her opinions less important.

400 LB Monkey by Left Hand Brewing. It’s an english IPA, which sounds awesome, but it’s probably on my top 10 worst beers I’ve ever had list.

Left Hand is usually very good. If you ever find their “Good Juju” get it… it goes great with Asian food.

are Three Floyds and Half Acre. Half Acre’s Daisy Cutter, that’s the goods right there.

MIne was chewing on a toothpick(saved the last one from the championship game), sat in same seat with remotes facing certain direction while wearing a Blackhawk long sleeve t-shirt( I would switch between my grey one and my black one with the #5 and Konroyd’s name on it depending on if they lost the game before.)

Updated, finally!
ok, so I’m going to issue a last call for nominees for all the categories. We’ve had lots of good stuff, let’s make sure it’s all on here! Then I will put together a survey for everyone to take once we finish the nominees.
PROBLEM
I can’t find a free survey site that allows more than 10 questions. Suggestions?? Someone could pay, but I am not that someone. I’ll do the labor, though.
I’m sort of stuck until I find a site, as I just wasted a good hour on a site that I discovered only allows 10 after I tried to enter question 11. dumb dumb dumb.
I saw this site and it allows 20 questions - not sure if reliable
How would you like a job where, every time you make a mistake, a big red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?
Just realized it is only good for 10 days and up to 50 responses, so probably not worth it.
How would you like a job where, every time you make a mistake, a big red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?
yeah, it seems to be
you get more questions, but fewer responses, or fewer questions but more responses. We need both!
by Katherine215 on Aug 27, 2010 9:12 AM CDT up reply actions
can you make multiple surveys with one account?
otherwise I’d be willing to create a survey with the next 10 questions. Of course, you’d need more people to finish the rest of the survey. Final alternative is that you can do voting on 10 categories at a time, I guess?
I think you can
or I can just create a couple accounts. I’ll save that as a last resort and see if anyone knows of another site.
Does anyone know anything about using Google forms? that was another option I found, but I wasn’t sure if i could send a link to the survey…
