I did not know
Turco was a Satanist
Not all those who wander are lost.
my Captain is better than your Captain
I thought the exact same thing…Maybe the Devil will help him close the 5-hole?

Doesn't the Devil

i thought devils at first but...
i think they more closely resemble gargoyles. per wiki: Gargoyles are said to scare off and protect from any evil or harmful spirits. maybe he is planning ahead for when he has to sniff big buffs ass. haha

They look kind of 3D
The logos are practically popping out at you. Can’t wait to see what the goalie pads look like. Puppet may get her sparkle motion yet.
How would you like a job where, every time you make a mistake, a big red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?
Additional Questions
I think the real question here is what color will his pads be?
Also this says that guy also designed helmets for Dominick (he spells it the lame way) Hasek too. DIdn’t he always just wear a regular ass helmet?

That's how good the paint job was

They make ass helmets?
Developed by prison bitches, no doubt.

anybody else think the devil on the right
is one of the beasts from ghostbusters?
when did you run into will smith!?
I think it's Zuul?
I looked it up once, because everyone I know spells it differently
Go jump in Toews Lake.
Aubrey: old German for king of the elves. Huff: English for...huff.
For those who are too young to remember that movie:

There are only two seasons in Chicago; Hockey and Construction.
DVDs exist
there’s no excuse for not having seen it.
My brother and his friends used to run around with blast packs on their back yelling DON’T CROSS THE STREAMS.

Hey, I'm just throwing it up here in-case some youngin's hadn't seen it.
I love this movie.

I thought this too at first glance
“I’m Vinzo Clortho, the Keymaster to Gozer.”
Perhaps a preliminary Turco (kinda sounds like Clortho) nickname – “Vinz Clortho”?

looks like it
the goalie guild guy says Turco always has them on his masks. Hopefully he says why in the BHTV video.

According to the article
The masks were painted in Sweden by Dave Gunnarsson, who runs Daveart.com. He seems to have done all of Turco’s masks in the past and has a massive gallery of goalie masks he has done over the years.
He also has a gallery page for each goalie he has done multiple masks for, including Turco. The new masks are not yet in the gallery, but all of his old ones shown here do indeed have gargoyles one them.
And since it was brought up in the thread, he has a ghostbusters themed one that he did for John De Santi of the Senators last year

Also
this is from one of the descriptions in the gallery:
The gargoyles stand in attention on each side, guarding the goal, here no pucks are welcome!
Apologies for the double link to the ghostbusters one above. meant to delete the second one but hit post too soon.

Technically speaking
gargoyles are statues used to let water drain from the roof of a building. Because they don’t feature water, they’re grotesques.
/pedantry.
I think they look sweet regardless
If he plays well he can put pentagrams on there for all I care

Gargoyle actually means "throat"
It comes from the old French word “gargouille”. (like gargling?) Legend had it that there was a fierce dragon named La Gargouille who lived in a cave near the Seine river in Paris – it was slain by a priest, only the head and neck remained, which were mounted on a nearby church. Hence, the belief that gargoyles keep away evil spirits. Not such sweet creatures whiskeyboy.
By posting this do you mean
that whiskeyboy should now be referred to as Garcon’ du whiskey?
plus why do we have cave writings underneath the top of the cage?
when did you run into will smith!?
I’d have to imagine those are pictograms meant to ostensibly emulate what the written language of the natives would have been.

It's a pretty cool deptiction of an Indian hunting bufflo. I find it quite orignal.
This is over. You can go ahead and order the autopsy now.
Chief Blackhawk
I wish one of these goalies would actually have Chief Blackhawk’s likeness painted on their helmet. That’s what I would do.
Too bad Toews can’t..

TOTALLY BADASS!
Love ‘em. Plus a nice little reference to Native American pictographs. Too bad they weren’t altered to be shown playing hockey though.

nice catch
didnt even notice the pictographs. All I saw is that The Gate Keeper and The Key Master were featured on there. Hopefully none of the other teams figure out how to cross the streams and create a full protonic reversal…if they do, we are totally fucked. They are pretty rad though
what I really want to see is what the championship ring looks like.

Yeah, either they're a reference to Native Americans
or that Turco is really old.
I wonder if the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man is on the back?
OT, but is anyone going to the open practice next month? The Cup is going to be there and it’s only $5 (or $30 if you’re doing the 5k).

Thanks, I’ll let you know. I got an email yesterday saying they were almost out of the general admission tix. I’ll check later and see if any are left.

oh, hell no
I don’t run. They’re general admission but by level. I have 100 level, I think they have 300 level left, not that that would be bad by any means.
by Katherine215 on Aug 26, 2010 9:54 PM CDT up reply actions
Sucks you have different levels though
I kind of hoped it would be like last year where you could go in and sit in any seat you want. Oh well; much rather have the cup there.

Nice masks
I like the white one more the the red. Just a minor complaint, the tomahawk “C” on the red one doesn’t look quite right. the white area in the inner part of the “C” should be filled in with red.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene."

i love the masks!
It’s a nice break from the more traditional hawks and what I think looked like an owl. This is just the kind of badassery that I hope Turco comes to goal with!
Guess he's going to be good next year
Wearing the kind of garb he does you’d think he’d have the moves to back it up.
Those masks...
…are kind of embarrassing. i can just hear the bad early 90’s death metal in the background.
It’s like everything I find bad about the tattoo industry all rolled up into one hockey mask.

I'm probably biased
but these are some of the coolest I’ve ever seen.
Except maybe for Niemi’s originals that someone posted on here last year, before Nemo probably had his pants sued off. Is that why he wanted so much money?

Two big thumbs up!
They look brilliant. Now it’s time to see the blockers.
And did you hear the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup?
by TrickyDickAllen on Aug 26, 2010 8:45 PM CDT reply actions
Is it the norm
for a goalie to have a home mask and a road mask?
Maybe it is and I just haven’t noticed it. Did Nemo and Huet each have 2 masks?
Ditto for Badgerdano
next question
I’m sure the team pays for almost all of the equipment, but do they pay for these elaborate goalie mask customizations (or do the goalies pay for them)? I’m sure it cost a pretty penny to design and paint these.
Ditto for Badgerdano
Unlikely
I highly doubt it. Especially with Dollar Bill in charge!
19-88-81-2-7-10-36-4-51 : The Hawks
Custom painted professional masks are about $12-1600
thats the mask and the painting. but i have no idea who foots the bill
Remember when
Antti had his mask knocked off by a puck in the SCF? He wore his “practice” mask for a couple minutes, then it got knocked off and replaced with the original. At least that’s what was said at the time.
From that same article
Huet’s were always so cool to me.
Love the 3D version of the Indian head logo

Some goalies wear the same mask all the time
some have home and away. Personal preference I guess.

Made the point succinctly, I think.
they're very 'metal'..
circa poorly-lettered, inexpertly-drawn early Sepultura/Pantera album covers..
we’ll know I’m right if Marty flashes the horns and mimes a solo after each save..
the goalie stick is a good proxy for a guitar
