I just bought a DeToqueville at a used book store a couple of days ago

So he was in France at the beginning of their Revolution, but came to the US before they lost it [French status quo even then], and observed our system. Interesting, now kinda curious of what perspective he took, the Rights of Man or the Rights of Men.

Holmstrom is the best guy in front of the net in the league, according to Edzo.
I dunno about that, but I do know every bandwagoner is screaming BIG BUFF right now.
by Smokin Herb Grigsby on Sep 24, 2010 6:35 PM CDT up reply actions
Holstrom seems to get away with moving guys
from the net. He gave someone (Campbell?) a subtle cross check right before Lidstrom’s shot.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene."
If the refs are going to allow it
we need to do that too.
Prongs gets away with that in the defensive zone.
But we all know that already.
by Smokin Herb Grigsby on Sep 24, 2010 6:47 PM CDT up reply actions
Both Holstrom and Pronger
are in that “Star” category where the refs are more lenient. Seabrook gets away with a lot.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene."
They both know the EXACT limits
and do a great job of getting away with stuff when refs aren’t watching. Chara and Tyler Myers do this really well, too.

dang.
no way in hell crawford stops that.
I didn’t see the first goal… what happened?
Shot from his short left side
CC blocked it but gave the rebound right back to the shooter. The end.
This is ugly
Scum brought the puck in offsides. While Four Hawks were in the zone, Scum vacated, re-entered and got the puck before any Hawk touched it.
Scum is trying WAY too hard
Second City Hockey
Things have changed forever, we're the Ramblin' Boys of Pleasure

to see a team wearing the ’hawks sweater doing so bad. Against the lightning… whatever. this is scum. We need to kill them until they die.

Shots: CHI 4—10 DET

If by ‘solid’ you mean ‘often out of position and only showing up on the score sheet in a bad way’. He was also invisible in the first game, despite often being on Sharpie’s line. So far, I’m not impressed.

But the scoring chances were much closer
Graphic said 14-11 Scum when there was just a few minutes left.
So what I got from this game is...
Detroit sucks. If you can’t have more than a 1 goal lead while playing 12 starters while the opposition plays 4, you blow huge dong.
Also, Crawford and Morin are solid.
I’ll be at the game tomorrow. Hoping Kane, Toews, Seabrook, and Hjalmarsson will be playing.

Beach does not fit our style of play......
Connelly and Morin are perfect fits for this team. Leddy mid-season addition. Connelly really impresses me.
Would like too see Beach again,,,he can’t really be that bad………..can he ?
"Trying is the first step towards failure" Homer Simpson
Two reasons could be attributed to his bad play
1: He was on the 4th line.
2: He was playing his first real NHL game.
Secret answer number C: He actually isn’t ready for the NHL yet.
Either way, he won’t make the squad. Morin’s good but I feel like he needs another year to prepare. A year in the AHL will do him a world of good and there’s really no reason to rush him.
I will Beach the benefit of "the' doubt
Have heard too much positives…give him another game or two.
BUT Morin is a plug in for the Hawks-to me much better then Dowell or Skillet..too much hustle from Morin to be ignored-Scotty Jr can really stand tall by keeping Morin up. Connelly is way too steady…way too mature to be sent down…time up here will acceralate his learning curve,,,, he be “dam” good. Mr Fist in the Puss can go …..away
"Trying is the first step towards failure" Homer Simpson
Connelly?
Seriously? He was ok. Definitely not deserving of a spot over Hendry, Boynton, or Scott (whom I admit I haven’t seen aside from the fights). Morin doesn’t need to be rushed. I’d rather have him come in next year after playing on the top line for Rockford and dominate instead of coming in this year and getting 3rd/4th line minutes. Gotta think long-term.
Connelly Boners
I don’t get all the Connelly boners either. Just because a guy doesn’t shit his pants in the preseason doesn’t make him an NHL’er.
19-88-81-2-7-10-36-4-51 : The Hawks

Dam right it does...
Some of these fringe players think they have made the team. Morin and Connelly are two that stick out …why not keep them up? Morin…Don’t rush him???-I say don’t retard him.
"Trying is the first step towards failure" Homer Simpson
My random thoughts
are that Crawford seems much better than he was last year, and Leddy seemed less tentative (or something like that) than he was last night. Not at all impressed with Beach, and have realized I don’t go to AHL games for a reason. The big clusterfucks of everyone out of position (and really, what was up with all the bad passing tonight?) really confuse the hell out of me when I still can’t figure out who is who (and the glasses aren’t helping all that much, I need a bigger TV).
The sun never sets on a badass
Jeremy Morin
Just watched the highlights and the more and more I watch Morin the more he starts to draw comparison’s to a young Jeremy Roenick. It’s insane really if you think about it.
The way he hits, carries the puck and handles it, and the offensive flair plus cockiness, he gives me a touch of the goosebumps. If he becomes even a fraction of what JR was then StanBow has done this franchise a massive favour. Another Calder Trophy candidate?
I know, I know, I’m PMG this a bit but it’s incredible how a 19 (soon-to-be 20 yr. old) kid can come into the pre-season and own it like this. Good for him and the ’Hawks.
2010 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS
It's been a long journey but in the end it was all worth it, and I wouldn't have ever changed a thing. The feeling is so surreal, yet so real.
This brings a smile to my face

Veteran forwards playing: Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Tomas Kopecky, Jake Dowell, Fernando Pisani, Ryan Potulny, Jack Skille and Viktor Stalberg.
Veteran defenseman playing: Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Brian Campbell and John Scott.
Marty Turco plays the whole game in goal.

From Blackhawks.com
The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forwards Brandon Bollig, Rob Klinkhammer and Brandon Pirri, and defensemen Jonathan Carlsson, Simon Danis-Pepin, Ryan Stanton and Ivan Vishnevskiy to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs. In addition the Blackhawks have released forwards Rastislav Pavlikovsky and Nick Tarnasky, and defenseman Wade Brookbank.
That is all, Carry on.
