PP Dance/Sandstorm Overplay
Hey there fellow Hawks fans,
First apologies on the name, I made it before Cristobal Huet completely shit the bed. Earlier this week, Fels asked readers to email the Hawks personnel in charge of gameday presentation in regards to the apparent PP dance to Sandstorm (link: Columbus Day Cleanup), specifically dealing with how its a horrible idea and very annoying.
So, having just passed the Illinois bar exam yet not having a job, I did as my SCH overlords commanded and emailed the Hawks marketing department via the Hawks website and told them the PP dance idea was horrible and its really annoying for anyone who is old enough not to piss the bed. Today I received this reply:
Thanks for your insight. We always like to hear what our fans think of our game day presentation. In regards to Sandstorm, I can promise you, we do not promote or encourage a ‘power play dance.’ We do use Sandstorm for our power play song as of now, but we will never encourage any sort of a certain dance to go along with the song or anything like that, if we show kids dancing, it is purely coincidental.
We will never do ‘fan-o-meters’ ‘make some noise’ props or anything to that regard telling our fans to do anything during the game.
I honestly wasn't expecting a response as I figured these guys would be overwhelmed with emails from the rest of the SCH community (guess you all have jobs and things like that). I guess its good news they're not trying to start a PP dance (bad news though: they are allowing it to happen by making Sandstorm THE power play song). Thankfully, though, we have it in writing that they will never do the "fan-o-meter" or "make some noise" gimmicks that infest horrible places like the Scottrade Center and Joe Lewis Arena.
Perhaps there should be a new call for a mass email to change the PP song (I love Sandstorm as much as the next guy but I don't want to hate that song by the end of the season and/or hate when the Hawks go on the PP because I have to hear that song). In keeping with the "clown shoes" nature of the PP, maybe this song would be more appropriate: new PP song?
In closing, Go Hawks!

congrats on passing the bar!
and welcome to unemployment like the rest of us. ;)
I’m glad to hear that the Hawks will never go for the cheesy “pump up the crowd”-type things. And it’s great to see that the PR is attempting to respond to people’s concerns
SCH Narc - check yo'self before you wreck yo'self.
interesting, and impressive
I’m pretty surprised you received such a specific and detailed response. That’s really cool. I would’ve expected a “thank you for contacting us, we value our fans’ opinions and will keep your request on file” kind of response.
Let's Go Hawks!
no need to apologize for your name
you might even find it’s worth big money if from now on, you agree to post on another SBN site instead of this one
does SBN have any sites for SEL teams?
There are three types of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.
