Mark Messier Leadership Award (VOTE TOEWS) - Updated 4/8 - Toews vs Lidstrom For The Award! THIS IS FOR ALL THE MARBLES, Get Your Votes In Now!

Jonathan Toews is up for the annual Mark Messier Leadership Award.

Toews is facing off against Lidstrom for the award itself in the finals and this right here is for all of the marbles- this will actually win our Captain an award (although admittedly it will not mean as much among NHL players as winning a non-fan vote related piece of hardware, it still means SOMETHING as it is selected by the fans and actually up to this point accurately depicts his standing among leaders in the league). This is the first time you can honestly call Toews an underdog in this competition, as he is down by a large margin to Lidstrom. Toews might not have the dominating offensive stats to win the Hart Trophy, he might not be the media favorite to win the Selke (though the numbers for that are definitely there, yikes), but this is one award that definitely should be his and luckily fans can vote for it.

This is your chance to go out and support your team and your captain, get it done- you can only vote once!

Vote early and vote often.

-3/28 - Toews defeated Shea Weber by a total of 838 votes (69%) to Weber's 369 (31%)

-4/1 - Toews defeated Brian Gionta by a total of 1,637 votes (73%) to Gionta's 611 (27%)

-4/6 - Toews defeated Ryan Miller by a total of 3,195 votes (60%) to Miller's 2,112 (40%)

-4/8 - Toews against Red Wings Captain Niklas Lidstrom in the finals
