I put together a couple of tables of data from CapGeek to get the big picture of the NHL's off season goaltender maneuvering. I hope you find it useful. First, the situation breakdown by team:
And my humble classification of available goaltenders and their current career status, given my limited knowledge of them, with UFAs on the left and RFAs on the right.
I'm sure some of the "Who Am I?" guys are near or at NHL ready status, but I know nothing about them, so....by my count, there are 6 starter slots and 12 backup slots open and 35 guys above the "Who Am I?" line to fill them. Some teams, of course, will be looking to upgrade their #2 goalies and/or find a guy to challenge their #1 for playing time, but it still looks a buyer's market.
