Did the 'Hawks play the Ducks in Boudreau's first game behind their bench?
I’m not sure about that – I think that Carlyle was fired just a few days after the Friday-after-Thanksgiving match-up in which the ‘Hawks entered the 3rd period trailing 4-2 but managed to squeak out a 6-5 win and it was about 2 1/2 weeks until the ’Hawks and Ducks played again. So yeah, I don’t think that the ‘Hawks were Boudreau’s first opponent from behind the Ducks bench
There are three types of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.
LET'S GO HAWKS
Please win. I just might kill a puppy if i have to read another night’s worth of Nostradamous-like prognostication.
I'd like to see Hayes try a few shifts with DDN
But if he starts with Mayers and Bruno I’d like to see him end there. Line Juggling would mean we’re not handling the jackets or someone’s injured. I can wait to see that til another time!
Hawks have only won
2 more games than the Jackets in the last 10. 2 fucking games. Oh and for shits and giggles, the Hawks have never beaten the Jackets 5 consecutive times.
Bring it tonight and blow them the fuck out!
GO HAWKS!
No worries, this was the plan all along!

watching the Cold War on Ice: Summit Series…good stuff. Also, a young Bobby Clarke looks strikingly similar to Kaner.

Was it Clarke or P. Esposito
Who said they’d have killed those ruskies to have won? I think it was Esposito, but for some reason am thinking it was Clarke when they were asking him about his insane slash on Kharlamov.
Awesome documentary.
question I want answered...
Is how many CIA agents (or at least assets) managed to sneak into that group of 3,000 Canadian fans that went to Moscow? /history geek
Seriously cool documentary though. Hope the network does more like it.

HEY! WAIT A MINUTE!
But really, perfect time for Kane to have a good game back with 19. Don’t count on the Marian Hossa moments since he’s paired with dull knife and a everyone’s favorite dustbin.

Centres always get the nod there. If we’re talking awards, I’m going to need to sit down when Matt Cooke wins the Lady Byng this year. 3 minors for 6 PIM.

Don't mind Hayes on that line
right now the kid brings energy and much – needed checking no matter which line he skates on. Looks OK with the puck as well – just keep it going, man.
Looking forward to watching this beat down in person
Rogers got a boner when he saw the line rushes at practice because Smith was in the top 6. Not sure how long that will last but I would really like to see Hayes get a shot up there. This set up just dicks Hossa over badly.

For about $69.00 I just don’t know if I want to be bothered with a team that may not give a fuck when I can cook a nice steak dinner at home and yell at my TV instead.
I was being sarcastic
I thought the comment about yelling at my TV made that clear, sorry.

But in the end, I think it's going to come back to the Globetrotters, because if there's one thing they know, it's "globe-trotting!"
I'm expecting a rotation
smith-hayes-shaw etc
throw it against the wall, see what sticks. Gonna be tough, because there isn’t much to stick to on the 2nd line, but hossa.
The centers get shuffled far less than the wings
Centers have been 19/?/36/22 almost all season, with krugs/kane etc at 2C when available.
Yeah

I fucking hate Detroit. I just finished watching the game from the other night and while I’m pleased the Hawks played well overall, I’m pissed at the outcome. It’s like that Sharks game won in overtime even though the Hawks really had no business doing so based on the forty minutes of crap.
I would like to wake up tomorrow morning and see a vicious Hawks beat down, but a win is a win.

Nice preview as
Always…i kno it is somewhat blasphemy to read it but i was just at hockeybuzz and read JJ’s hawks article, where he claims a team offered the hawks a young gritty forward for dave bolland and the hawks said no way…donno whether he is just blowing smoke up our asses or not but it sounds interesting that the hawks wouldn’t give up bolland…i remember someone over at hockey buzz once asking who was marlboro 72,laughed my ass off!
by Special Agent Dale Cooper on Jan 10, 2012 3:24 PM CST via mobile reply actions
Say what you want about Bolly in regular season.
it is 100% true he has a history of just not being there in the regular season – long scoring droughts, period of rough play, injuries, etc…
the guy is a killer come playoff time. If he starts to not show up in the post season, people around the hawks will really turn sour on him, but he’s produced for the last two post seasons in a big way.
Totally agree
With you,he has been very good in the post season, and as long as he produces in april they won’t move him…still eonder then eho they trade for and who will they send packing?
by Special Agent Dale Cooper on Jan 10, 2012 3:32 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
Most fans don't appreciate the defensive type players.
But JJ and the meathead side of that forum don’t even know what defensive players are. JJ still pines that the best defensive player the Hawks had was Buf. I kid you not, Buf was his definition of a defensive player. Drove me nuts when I bothered to read that site.
And is anyone really surprised that the Hawks aren’t going to trade one of there only two natural centers for some unknown “gritty” forward? Might be a shock over there but really?
And as for the “Bolland only shows up for the playoffs, did people saying that watch him last season?” If you weren’t happy with Bolland and Bickell last season then there really isn’t any hope you will ever appreciate defensive forwards.
I suppose "just not being there" could easily be interpreted to mean that
but really what I meant to say is the second half of that sentence in my post – in the regular season, he has long scoring droughts and is fairly injury prone.
Last season, for example, he was absent from the scoresheet for a large part of the early going, if my memory serves correctly. While I can appreciate defensive forwards, and indeed, bolland is high on my list of favorite forwards, existing up above the 3m mark in salary means scoring is expected, in my book. “He’s a world class defensive forward” doesn’t excuse him from long droughts.
And again, as long as he shows up in the post-season… i don’t care all that much, and i think no one should care, what he does in the regular season.
I'm with you
I don’t care what Dave Bolland does in the regular season as long as 1. We make the playoffs and 2. We get playoff rat back. Besides, I don’t think we would want him to be 100% rat all the time or people might catch on to his rat ways.
Yup…had the money been available I would have felt much the same about Buff.
/ducks for cover
I do stuff for CheerTheAnthem
I completely agree
unfortunately the money wasn’t available and I’ll take the guys we kept.
he certainly intimidates the crap out of the Nucks

Although frustrating Jumbo Joe so bad he tried to hack his arm off was pretty good

by Toews-makes-funny-faces on Jan 10, 2012 4:07 PM CST reply actions
It's simple....Kane and Bolland need to step up big time
The second half of this season is, schedule wise, a heckuva lot tougher than the first. It is time for Kane and Bolland to start playing like “core” players and deliver. No more complicated than that. Toews and Hossa are doing what they do, and ditto the top 4 defensemen. All the complementary players need to step up, but by far the biggest imperative is on Kane and Bolland.
Off to the game now. Lets hope for 2 fucking points.
The Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup in 2010.
I overheard a good question at Total Hockey today,
If the Hawks could pick up one of the Staal brothers (however unlikely/illogical/impossible), which one would you want? and why?
Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Eric Staal = Peyton Manning
Jordan Staal = Eli Manning
Marc Staal = Cooper Manning (or whatever the current name of Archie Manning’s dog is)

Different
I hate to say it, but I think Raymond was trying to duck a flying elbow from Marchand. Marchand, on the other hand, was intent on torpedoing Salo.
See if you can guess what I am now.
by IndianHeadCrest on Jan 10, 2012 5:38 PM CST up reply actions
I tend to agree
Do not want to see clipping, but IMO Raymond looks to actually be trying to dodge a hit he was already low for, Marchand was just a Mother Fucker on his
by Toews-makes-funny-faces on Jan 10, 2012 6:36 PM CST up reply actions
I think Salo was positioning himself to wall-paper Marchand.
It didn’t work out in his favour. Personally, I hate the chicken shit “ducking” of a hit because it can be dangerous. Slipping a hit is one thing, ducking a hit (particularly near the boards) has always been a no-no in my books. The chirping from the bench of the team that got “ducked” was always pretty strong as I remember.
Therefore, I would’ve probably looked at Raymonds hit as a suspension too (if it was even considered a suspension worthy offense last year). Either way, both are cheap IMO.
You are next.
by M7 on Jan 10, 2012 6:03 PM CST up reply actions
Yeah, you're absolutely right.
In a re-read of what I wrote I didn’t mention that but, it’s dangerous for both parties. I’ve seen players take wicked knee’s to the melon ducking like that. No good all around, bad for both parties in the collision.
