that is was originally intended to let a team know that their play is “for the birds.” Unfortunately…too many idiots use it for no apparent reason and and just want to act foolish.

Add Montador’s non-existent defensive zone presence? Means Stanley understand the critical need for a blueliner. This team MUST upgrade blueline play. Dunc, Seabs and Hammer are not enough. Leddy will be fine, but his limitations are being exposed and it needs to serve as wakeup call to the front office.

Montador fancies himself as a Brian Campbell type player. But he’s not,. Not by a million miles. He is rightfully in Q’s doghouse because his work in the defensive zone is wretchedly bad. When you are relying on Moses O’Donnell to bail you out because of your fuckups clearing the puck?? Well then it’s time to grab some bench.

He’s done it his entire career with mostly positive results.
I agree that his size and stature lends itself to a stay-at-home role.
But when you’re on a team that thrives on transition play and your partner is either Scott or Odie, then you’re the puck-mover by default

Q seems to prefer the Dpairs to be 1 puck mover and 1 stay at home guy, so Monty as the puck mover is better than Scott or OD as the puck mover.

Monty stinks so playing him 22 minutes a game on the top pairing is more than he can handle but on a 3rd pairing he might be more suited for a Stay at Home Game, it’s why Buffalo only got a 4th for him and were prepared to let him walk as a UFA
