In terms of Crawford being done, I keep thinking back to how bad Jimmy Howard was in his sophomore year and it gives me some hope. Both are similar goalies who came into the league in similar ways if I’m not mistaken, and granted Howard’s 2nd season wasn’t THIS bad but still, one can hope right?

I know many here do not like to get wrapped around that “if they win”. But THAT too me is a very striking number, as is they have not beat team by 5+ goals even once, but have lost by 5+ 2 times. To me it indicates with their record, they were/are an above average team, but not by much. They got ahead in points, but this is the evening out, the reverse of their 9-1-0 run, which they actually did not really dominate, just won games.

I feel like the season is already pretty much lost
The goaltending is a nightmare. The D is lacking. The whole team just looks frustrated and lost. The coaches don’t seem to have any idea how to fix it. It’s just like the moments leading up to Carlyle’s firing where no matter what he did, the team just couldn’t respond.
There needs to be more change than with just the coach, but I think the coach might be the start. The trades and roster changes can wait until the off season. Who knows, Quick might be available since he must be frustrated playing for an offenseless Kings and he wants the cup.
Difference is
Hawks= playoff team
Ducks=cellar dweller (and had missed the playoffs in the past)
The path the hawks are taking from being cup contenders does seem oddly familiar to that of the ducks though.
I wouldn't call them the cellar dwellers
They have one of the best top lines in the league with RPG. Their second line with Koivu and Selanne and whatever rotating wing (Blake, Hagman, Belerskey) they feel like has also been strong. Hiller was an All-Star pre-vertigo issues and was stellar for them prior to that and is playing great right now. They only missed playoffs once in the last few years year. It’s just, for whatever reason, they sucked hard this season, and no one knows why.
The Ducks may not have all the pieces for another cup soon, but they definitely have enough talent to be a strong playoff team if they play to their potential.
(Sorry, I’m a little sensitive about the Ducks.)

But it all depends on his knees, but I think he’s achieved everything; got the ring, played in front of his home country with his team, returned to Winnipeg… it seems like the perfect ending to his career except for the fucking disappointment the Ducks are this season.
Impossible to not be a fan of teemu.

And I think as long as the Ducks don’t collapse on their road trip, he won’t leave. I don’t see him moving, or asking to be moved; he wants to retire a Duck, and if the team fucks this up for him, heads will roll lol.

The ducks were hovering around last in the west and their playoff hopes were pretty much shot.

But they shouldn’t have been. They had too much talent to play that shitty. Hiller was off, the D was off, RPG couldn’t score a damn goal if their life depended on it, and it was just a fucking mess. They should have been better. They are much better now. Playoffs are a dream, but if they play to their potential, the season won’t end completely painfully if they finish strong.
But that is my point.
The ducks had a good team on paper that was playing cellar dweller hockey, the hawks have a good team on paper that is playing mediocre hockey (I am talking overall this season).

Unfortunately, the Hawks are playing like the Ducks were at the beginning of the season. Their great start was terrifying because despite the wins, I never saw a cup contender (even if on paper it looked pretty damn good).
That is fine and understandable.
I never saw a cup contender either to be honest. Even at the hawks best they were simply finding ways to win.
Still I thought they were a little better than they have show. I pretty much considered them a 2nd tier team out west (4th, 5th seed) and now they look like a team that will have to claw into the playoffs.
They are definitely better than what's going on
I think they should be in top five at least. I don’t think they have enough to win the western conference though, but I certainly didn’t think they would be struggling to even be making playoffs.
They just need something to spark some confidence in them because I don’t see a desperation to win, all I see is frustration and them being lost because nothing is going their way, and if they could get a win, a well-deserved win, that would go a long way.
I see spurts of desperation but I also see too much sloppiness and frustration.
They were sloppy early in this one and it cost them the game.
They have yet to play a full 60 minutes imo
Except for that one San Jose loss; they were so good in that game, yet ironically couldn’t get the win. Shows they’re so much better than they’ve been lately.
I thought Kane was solid whenever I saw him out though (though I did miss most of the game earlier); he logged a lot of minutes, and it sucks his effort isn’t awarded with a Hawks win or even a damn point.
Him and bolland have impressed me during this stretch.
Stalberg has been decent too, but outside of those 3 I have not been impressed.

I think he deserves some shit
but he gets way more shit than he deserves. Whether it be here or in the chicago media it is ridiculous. We forget quickly how important he was to that cup run.
oh he's by no means perfect. there are definitely times when he deserves it
but i think often he gets piled on and other players get a pass (when they shouldn’t), and he gets shit (like Blou below) when he was the better player on the ice past few games, and they forget that he actually did come into this season injured and its probably lingering.

And toews and hossa are more blue collar players than kane so when they are off their games they will always get passes over kane.
yeah, i just don't think that's fair
i mean hossa hasn’t really been very noticeable to me recently, but instead lets talk about kane being a disappointment? of course. if my eyes rolled any harder they’d be out of my head.

It is totally unfair.
Hossa was really not very good at all last year and at the end of the year it was all about how we had to trade kane.
Kane has a rough stretch coming off of an injury and all of the sudden he is the anti-christ this year. He is just easy to pick on because of his well documented off ice stuff and the way he plays the game.
yeah its just frustrating.
especially since none of the off ice stuff has been this year, and he clearly worked really hard over the summer to get prepped for this year, and i don’t think his defensive abilities are as crazy crappy as some make it seem here.

He said he felt he did not get a fair shake in CHI and a few things about management not keeping the team together and how bad that was.
The 2nd thing I don’t mind, but he didn’t get a fair shake? Guy was playing mediocre hockey on toews and kanes line all of the time.
i don't know, i can't imagine how i'd react
after the short leash (and numerous benchings), playing injured (not sure whose decision that was), etc…he clearly loved the city, the team, and his teammates. So i have a hard time being angry about what was probably a kneejerk reaction.

This team feasted against an easy schedule
Thankfully so. This is a hockey team in tatters. You can’t blame injuries, because this team has, yet again, stayed healthy. The biggest blow was losing Sharp for 3 weeks.
Schedule got tough and this team’s weaknesses borne out. This team needs a lot of work in the offseason. And I’m afraid goaltender will need to be added to the shopping list, in addition to serious upgrade on defense.
I’ll say this now and the meatballs can throw bricks….Vik Stalberg doesn’t fit on this hockey team and does more harm than good.
But if I had to be truly mad a one player this season then it is Patrick Kane. It’s painful what has happened actually.

Brunette….Frolik…and now Morrison. If for no other reason than symbolically, you need to make a roster move. Call up Jimmy Hayes and let the kid learn how to play defense on the job. I simply do not understand why several players keep playing. It’s absolutely dumbfounding in fact when there is supposed depth sitting at Rockford.
I’d rather watch Grindy McGrindy Ben Smith then piss away another nanosecond on Brunette and Frolik. Hell, I’d rather have the colosally overrated Jeremy Morin or Kyle Fucking Beach taking shifts at this point.

…coaching change or not. I have a feeling though, that Q’s gone by the end of the trip.
Bowman, however, deserves just as much blame for this debacle (if not more so).
