A whole lot of Hawks had very good games last night. Bickell digging a puck off the boards and throwing it to Stalberg. Stalberg actually getting it into the net. 36-88-10, wow. Hossa, again a man among boys. Pretty good D by the forwards all the way around. 4-27 played well together. Kruger is a very nice asset to plug in as needed. Rosival jumps out to an early but solid lead over Brookbank for sixth D-man. A D-man who can complete the give-and-go like that is going to harvest a lot of assists on this team.

Speaking of D-men, who is that wearing Leddy's uni - great positioning, using his body while still using his stick. He used his size to get under guys for leverage. Last season, guys got under him and tossed him aside like yesterday's newspaper. When he had the puck in his own end, he didn't panic and he didn't just absorb a hit. He used what God gave him - brains and speed. Hallelujah.

On the other side:

Marlboro 72 trying to be too cute by half. Knock it off.

Frolic's goal has him jumping out of his skates a little bit. His game gets worse when he tries too hard.

Emery. But, it has to be tough with his hip and no camp.

Someone needs to teach Stalberg two, and only two, effective things to do to put a puck in a net when on a breakaway. He skates so friggin' fast, he gets to the net before he has a chance to develop a scoring plan. He needs to start with a simple plan, thought-out in advance. With his skill, a simple plan will turn him into a .5 GAG scorer. There is nothing else not to like about his game.
