Blackhawks Add Some Goaltending Depth

The Blackhawks have acquired goaltender Henrik Karlsson from the Calgary Flames for a 7th round draft pick.

Maybe it's just for insurance or maybe Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman were just as worried as we are from what they saw out of Ray Emery last night. Whatever the reason the Hawks have added 29 year old goaltender Henrik Karlsson. Karlson is a big goalie at 6'6 and has made 26 appearances for the Calgary Flames. He has a career record of 5-9-8 with a 2.79 goals against average and a .905 save percentage.

I don't think this move is the end of Ray Emery by any means. This will put a little bit of pressure on Emery, which is always good. In a short season you can not afford to wait for players to snap out of slow starts, so insurance is nice to have. Karlsson will most likely be sent to Rockford, and hopefully is never called up to the Blackhawks.
