Even though the NHL prematurely posted the video explanation and then quickly pulled it off for some reason, it has been officially announced that Jannik Hansen has been suspended for one game for his hit on Marian Hossa. There has been a lot of discussion on the play here today on whether it was a dirty hit or a "hockey play." Apparently Brendan Shanahan thinks it was a dirty play.
Frankly, I am surprised that Hansen is getting a suspension. He has had no history of being in trouble and the and the league has been going the way of fines over suspensions in the early going. Shanahan did a good job in explaining exactly why the one game suspension was warranted. I can not wait to hear Alain Vigneault and Mike Gillis cry about this one. You know its coming!
