The Sweetest Revenge

Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE

The Blackhawks travel to Phoenix for the second time this season, on Thursday, and get their first crack at Raffi Torres since last April's infamous hit on Marian Hossa.

"The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury." - Marcus Aurelius

"The best revenge is massive success." - Frank Sinatra

I will never forget April 17, 2012 and the vicious assault that occurred on Marian Hossa. I will always remember the sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach as Hossa was laying motionless on the United Center ice. The feeling of pure hatred towards Raffi Torres was extreme and rather frightening. Nearly 10 months have passed since that game and we will get our first look at Torres tomorrow night in Phoenix. Many fans have been calling for his head since he took out Brent Seabrook in the 2011 playoffs while he was a member of the Vancouver Canucks. The cry for vengeance will be loud tomorrow, but the Hawks need to be smart.

Torres has said all the right things since he was handed out his 25 game suspension for his hit on Hoss. He told the Chicago media today "It is what it is. Obviously, they are off to a great start. Whatever happens out there, happens. I'm sure they just want to go out there and get the ‘W.' It'll be a good test for us. We got a good team coming in here, the best team in the league."

According to Raffi, he is now a changed man. "We have to protect the top players in our league," Torres said. "If it's going to take me thinking a little and not just running around with my head cut off, then that's what it's going to take." He went on to add ; "I was over it the day after they told me I got 25 games. I look at it as for everything negative that happens to you, there's a positive that comes out of it. I learned a lot about myself over the last eight, nine months." I am pretty sure I am in the majority that are not buying this song and dance routine. Matt Cooke seems to be living proof that shitheads can change, but I believe it is only a matter of time before Raffi does what Raffi does.

I honestly don't see the Blackhawks making it a point to target Torres on Thursday night, and that is the right thing to do. There is no reason to fight fire with fire. The Hawks have everything rolling and there is no reason to jeopardize what they have got going for them just for the sake of revenge. It's not worth getting someone suspended or even hurt going after Torres. Even if the Hawks do send the likes of Brandon Bollig after Torres, he will probably turtle like a bitch anyways. Just go into Phoenix and do what you did on January 21st; kick the Coyotes' collective ass and leave town with two points. With that being said, if you have a chance to get in a clean and hard shot on Torres, by all means, take it. I would love to see Torres get a taste of his own medicine, but I would rather be 9-0-2 at the end of the night instead.

PS - All you "free Raffi" Yotes "fans" who boo Marian Hossa, kiss the fattest part of my ass and go play in rush hour traffic you clueless fucks!
