The Blackhawks sure don't have long to wait to erase the bad taste from their mouths as the lowly Calgary Flames come to town tonight. The Hawks did not have a mandatory morning skate today but Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp, Daniel Carcillo, and Sheldon Brookbank did participate in an informal skate. This was the first time Hossa has skated since suffering a shoulder injury back on March 18th. Both he and Sharp were taking shots so hopefully they are both nearing a return. Coach Q told the media that if Hoss gets a couple of more skates in he could play Friday night against the now ice cold Ducks. Look for Ray Emery to get the start tonight. Razor was amazing in his start in Calgary back on February 2nd where he made 45 saves in a 3-2 shootout win. Emery is 5-2-1 with a 1.61 GAA, .943 save % and one shutout versus the Flames.
All the focus will be on Calgary captain Jarome Iginla and his impending trade, which could be right here to the Blackhawks. At first I was not too keen on the idea of trading for Iggy, but after Cody's great article yesterday, I would have no problem adding him to the mix. The Hawks really could have used his size and toughness last night as the Kings were pushing them around the ice. Growing up a huge WWF fan during the 80's I would love to see a classic heel turn tonight. Just picture it; as the Hawks and Flames are tied in the final seconds, Iggy turns and fires the puck into his own net. As the crowd sits in stunned silence he rips off his Flames jersey to reveal a Hawks jersey and skates off the ice to sounds of Chelsea Dagger tearing the roof of the United Center. Can't you imagine the Calgary announcers screaming "What in the hell is he doing?" a la Jim Ross?
