Realignment

While still basking in the afterglow of the Championship season, my thoughts have been turning to next season. For me, next season will be a bit strange. A new division. More young talent getting blooded. The Wings have fled to the East. No Dave Bolland in a Hawks sweater, and so on.

Thinking about the new division, who do you think will emerge as our biggest rivals? St. Louis would seem to be the obvious answer, but I'm not so sure. For me, In recent years the Blues have always been an afterthought. It was always Detroit first and last. Maybe it's because of the Blues relative lack of success, or the style of hockey they play, but for me the games that have gotten my blood boiling (and that of my friends who are Hawks fans) have been against the Wings. Now they are gone.

The Hawks rivalry with the old Minnesota North Stars was incredible. To say that Hawks fans hated Dino Ciccarelli, and Basil McRae would be an undstatement. Hawks Vs. North Stars was always a game I looked forward to. Having played the Wild in the playoffs last year, I'm hoping that the Chicago vs. Minnesota rivalry has been rekindled. Especially because they are now in our division.

I'd love to hear other Hawks fans thoughts on the subject.

"......and the Blackhawks take control, there's a shot and a goal!"
