Luongo tops NHL's Three Stars

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo's dominant performance between the pipes earned the netminder top billing on the NHL's 'Three Stars' list for the week ending November 9.

Luongo posted three consecutive shutouts during the week in contests against Nashville, Phoenix and Minnesota. He turned away 81 combined shots in the three bouts and now has five shutouts on the season for a 9-5-0 record with a 2.34 goals-against average. The 29-year-old has an active shutout streak of 201 minutes and eight seconds.

Fellow goaltenders Steve Mason of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Brent Johnson of the Washington Capitals took the honor of second and third stars, respectively.

Mason, 20, went 3-0 in his first three career starts during the week. Columbus' second-round pick in the 2006 draft posted a 2.61 GAA in victories over Edmonton, Montreal and Calgary while making 78 combined saves with a .907 save percentage.

Johnson, meanwhile, led the Capitals to a 2-0-1 record with the overtime loss coming in a 42-save effort against Ottawa. In wins over Carolina and the New York Rangers, Johnson stopped 32 and 28 shots, respectively, and posted a 1.63 goals against with a .953 save percentage throughout the week.
