Thrashers D Schneider out with injury

Sports Network | November 06, 2008

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Thrashers defenseman missed Thursday's victory over the New York Islanders due to a hip flexor injury.

The team acquired the 33-year-old in a trade with Anaheim in September 2008. In 12 games this season, he has tallied one goal and four points. He is expected to miss the next two games with the ailment.

To replace Schneider on the roster, the team called up Boris Valabik from Chicago of the American Hockey League. The 10th overall pick in 2004 has registered three points in 11 games this year in the AHL.

Goalie Kari Lehtonen also sat out for the third consecutive game with a stiff back and flu symptoms. He is expected to return for Friday's game against the Sabres.
