Recap: Florida vs. Tampa Bay

Sports Network | November 12, 2008

Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Gregory Campbell tallied twice and Craig Anderson turned aside 24 shots for his first shutout of the season as Florida silenced Tampa Bay, 4-0, at BankAtlantic Center.

"I was just trying to stay even keel," Anderson said of his demeanor in the crease. "When you're in position, the game looks a lot easier and your instincts take over."

Bryan McCabe and Nathan Horton also scored while Jay Bouwmeester added a pair of assists for the Panthers, who have won two in a row following a six-game losing skid.

Mike Smith made 27 saves in defeat for the Lightning, who have lost two in a row and four of five.

"We got to grind more," said Tampa forward Martin St. Louis. "You can tell guys are playing frustrated, but you just got to go out and earn it."

McCabe's rocket from the point with 3:27 left in the first period gave the Panthers an early one-goal lead, and Horton's power-play marker 1:28 into the second period boosted the advantage to two.

On another power play, Campbell's deflection of Bouwmeester's wrister from the left point made it 3-0 for Florida at 10:25.

Campbell added another power-play marker with 3:32 left in the contest and Anderson was not seriously tested for the remainder of the game.

"I crashed the net and stayed in the crease and that's how I'm going to get goals," Campbell said. "If you park yourself in front of the net, most guys would put it in the first time, but I had the poise to stay in there and keep hacking away."

Florida has won five of the last nine meetings...Campbell's last multi-goal effort came in a 4-3 win over the Flyers on October 24, 2007...It was McCabe's first goal as a member of the Panthers, after tallying 83 over the last seven seasons for the Maple Leafs...Anderson picked up his fifth career whitewash. He had a pair of shutouts last season for the Panthers, and one each for the Blackhawks in 2003-04 and 2005-06...Florida hosts Detroit on Friday, while Tampa Bay hosts the Red Wings on Thursday.
