Recap: Anaheim vs. Nashville

Sports Network | November 15, 2008

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Dan Hamhuis scored with 2:43 remaining in overtime and the Nashville Predators earned a rare 4-3 road win over the Anaheim Ducks.

J.P. Dumont, Ryan Jones and Joel Ward also scored for the Predators, who snapped a six-game losing streak at the Honda Center and improved to 2-3-0 on their six-game road trip that ends Saturday in Los Angeles. Shea Weber had two assists and Dan Ellis stopped 32-of-35 shots in the win.

Ryan Getzlaf registered a goal and an assist, while Teemu Selanne, appearing in his 600th career game as a Duck, recorded three assists for Anaheim, which has lost three straight to fall to 1-2-1 on its season-long six-game residency. Jean-Sebastien Giguere allowed four goals on 35 shots in defeat.

Following a scoreless second frame, Nashville used the power play to break a 2-2 tie. Ryan Suter dished across to Weber, and he unleashed a one-timer from the top of the left circle that ricocheted off Ward, who was standing in front of the crease, and past Giguere at the 4:35 mark of the third period.

Getzlaf converted on the power play at 9:33 and the game went to overtime, where Nashville captain Jason Arnott sent a backhand feed to Hamhuis in the slot, and he drilled a shot over the glove hand of Giguere.

"It came off a change," Hamhuis said of his game-winner. "The puck was dumped into a corner. I knew (Arnott) was going to get possession of it, so I dropped down a bit, and he made a fantastic pass."

Brendan Morrison gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead two minutes into the contest, but a Jones power-play goal knotted the score at the 5:54 mark of the first period.

The Preds grabbed the lead with 8:34 remaining in the frame. Weber unleashed a shot from the right point that sailed wide. Dumont took it off the end boards at the left side of the net and tucked the puck in on the backhand.

While up a man, Chris Kunitz swept a shot between the legs of Ellis, tying the game with 4:55 to play in the opening stanza.
