Ducks D Beauchemin out six months

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Anaheim Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin will be out the next six months due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Beauchemin suffered the injury during the third period of Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to Nashville when he was hit from behind by center Scott Nichol. Beauchemin's knee bent backward, and an MRI on Saturday revealed the torn ACL.
"This is an unfortunate injury for Francois and we feel badly for him," said Anaheim general manager Bob Murray. "However, knowing his character as a player and person, we know he will rebound from this and return to the ice at full strength. Our team has faced adversity before and we expect everyone to step up in his absence."
Beauchemin appeared in 18 games with Anaheim this season, posting four goals and an assist.
The Ducks replaced Beauchemin by recalling winger Bobby Ryan and Brett Festerling from the Iowa of the American Hockey League. Ryan, the second overall pick of the 2005 draft, has nine goals and 10 assists at the AHL level this season.
