Pens deal Sydor to Stars for Boucher

Sports Network | November 16, 2008

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired defenseman Philippe Boucher from the Dallas Stars for veteran defenseman Darryl Sydor on Sunday.

Boucher has three assists in 16 games with the Stars this season, his sixth with the club. A 16-year pro, the native of Quebec has 91 goals, 294 points and 678 penalty minutes in 723 career games with the Sabres, Kings and Stars.

Sydor recorded one goal and two points in eight games for the Pens this season, his second with Pittsburgh.

The 36-year-old returns to Dallas for his third try with the franchise, after spending two prior stints (1996-03; 2006-07) with the Stars, including a Stanley Cup in 1999.

A former first-round pick of the Kings, Sydor has collected 96 goals and 486 points in 1,179 contests with Los Angeles, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Columbus and Pittsburgh.

Coming into Sunday, the Stars are tied with the Calgary Flames for most goals allowed in the Western Conference with 62.
