Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Edmonton Oilers forward Fernando Pisani was helped off the ice by a couple teammates after leaving Monday's game against Detroit with a leg injury.
Pisani was battling Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom for a loose puck and fell and slammed his leg into the boards early in the third period. It was not apparent which part of the leg he injured, but he was unable to walk off the ice under his own power.
The 31-year-old Pisani has two goals and six points in 15 games thus far for the Oilers.
