He may be gone now, but Michael Frolik was a joy to watch for the Hawks in 2013.

There's a reason so many cried out in despair when the Chicago Blackhawks traded Michael Frolik to the Winnipeg Jets barely a week after he played such a key role in them taking home their second Stanley Cup title in the last four years. He was simply a joy to watch.
Frolik didn't develop into the offensive presence that the Blackhawks had hoped they were acquiring when they brought him in from the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline back in 2010-11. After two 20-goal seasons to start his career, Frolik never put it back together in that aspect of his game.
The 2013 season saw Frolik reinvent himself, which probably had to be done if he was to escape the clutches of Joel Quenneville and earn some playing time. He primarily served a defensive role, and was a guy that you could count on to skate his ass off on every single shift.
And he did just that. Frolik teamed up with Marcus Kruger in leading the Hawks to one of the best penalty kill units in the game. Only Kruger averaged more ice time shorthanded among forwards than Frolik, as the Blackhawks boasted the third best penalty kill percentage, both during the regular season and the playoffs.
Down the stretch, Frolik was a major contributor to the Hawks' title. He equaled his regular season production in the playoffs, scoring three goals, one of which was on a penalty shot in a crucial Game 6 against the Detroit Red Wings. He added assists in each of the last three playoff games for the Hawks, including a helper on the Cup-winning goal.
It's unfortunate that Frolik has since departed from the Blackhawks. He was a pleasure to watch and an asset as a fourth liner. He was never able to get his offense on track, but was still an extremely valuable part of this Blackhawks team in 2013.
