Blackhawks Prospect Watch: Garrett Ross hat trick, Vince Hinostroza's big week

Here is the weekly look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks' prospects are performing around the globe, starting with the minor league affiliates.

Rockford

The IceHogs (16-6-2-1) started the week with a 4-0 win over the Milwaukee Admirals (Predators) on Thursday, before falling to the Grand Rapids Griffiths (Red Wings) 4-0 on Saturday and Lake Erie Monsters (Avalanche) 4-3 in overtime the next night.

Garret Ross scored a hat trick against the Lake Erie and Teuvo Teravainen had two assists, but the Monsters scored in overtime for the victory. Ross also contributed an assist against Milwaukee for a four-point week while Teravainen and Phillip Danult, who had an assist in Sunday's game and two in Monday's, each had three helpers this week.

T.J. Brennan scored a goal and an assist in the victory over Milwaukee. Matt Carey and Drew LeBlanc also scored.

The shutout by Grand Rapids was the first at home for the IceHogs since a 4-0 loss to the Peoria Rivermen on March 16, 2013. Brennan and Pokka also each saw their four-game point streaks come to an end. I

Michael Leighton started all three games and made saves 70 saves, including stopping 19 in the shutout.

Indy

The Fuel (5-11-2-2) started strong with a 5-3 win over the Evansville IceMen on Wednesday before falling to the Florida Everblades on Friday 7-6 and 5-1 to the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Garett Bembridge extended his goal-scoring streak to five games with his eighth tally of the season for Indy's lone goal against Fort Wayne. Bembridge also scored a goal in the previous two contests and had three assists against Evansville.

Mike Duco netted two goals against Florida, and Nick Bruneteau and Mathieu Brisebois each contributed three assists.

Cody Reichard made 73 saves, but was pulled after the second period against Florida for Jordan Tibbett, who made five stops.

NCAA, USHL, and others

Chris Calnan (F), Boston College (NCAA) - Calnan scored two goals on four shots to lift the Golden Eagles to a 4-2 win over New Hampshire on Saturday. He has seven goals and three assists in 15 games this season.

Anthony Louis (F), Miami Ohio (NCAA) - Louis had three assists this week, including two assists in a 8-2 win over Omaha on Friday. He has three goals and 11 assists in 16 games this season for the RedHawks.

Michael Paliotta (D), Vermont (NCAA) - Paliotta did not play this week. He is tied for the team lead in points with 15 (5 G, 10A).

Nick Schmaltz (F), North Dakota (NCAA) - Schmaltz had two assists in each game against Lake Superior State, including the primary helper on his brother Jordan's goal in the 3-1 win on Saturday. He also went 7-8 in the face-off circle. The freshman is on a four-game point streak, and has two goals and 12 assists in 13 games this season.

Luke Johnson (F), North Dakota (NCAA) - Johnson had a goal and an assist this week. He also went 10-6 in the face-off circle and has nine points (4G, 5A) this season.

Tyler Motte (F), Michigan (NCAA) - Motte had four assists in a 8-3 win over Ohio State on Friday. Motte has seven assists in his last two games, and five goals and nine helpers this season.

Vince Hinostroza (F), Notre Dame (NCAA) - Hinostroza had five assists over two games, including three in a 4-0 win over Massachusetts. He also went 13-9 in the face-off circle. He has 12 assists and 16 points this season for the Fighting Irish.

John Hayden (F), Yale (NCAA) - Hayden had an assist in Yale's 5-2 win over Rensselaer on Friday. He has 10 points 3G, 7A) this season.

Fredrik Olofsson (F), Chicago Steel (USHL) - Olofsson scored a goal in the Steel's 7-4 win over Des Moines on Friday. He has a career-high 19 points this season.

Matheson Iacopelli (F), Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) - Iacopelli scored a goal in the Lumberjack's 4-0 win over USNTDP Under-17 team on Friday. The 2014 third-round pick has 17 points (12G, 5A) in 20 games this season.

Ivan Nalimov (G), Admiral Vladivostok (KHL) - Nalimov has a 2.97 GAA and .896 SA over 18 games this season.

Carl Dahlstrom (D), Linkoping (SHL) - Dahlstrom has a goal and assist with a -8 rating in 28 games this season.

Robin Press (D), Södertälje (Allsvenskan) - Press scored a goal this week. He has 10 goals and 15 assists in 29 games this season.
