Predators’ Shea Weber not traveling to Chicago, out at least 2 games

The Nashville Predators suffered a big loss in their Game 2 victory of the Western Conference quarterfinals against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Nashville captain and top defenseman Shea Weber suffered a lower-body injury and will not travel with the team for Games 3 and 4 in Chicago, the team announced Saturday.

Weber was injured at 9:20 of the second period after a hit by Blackhawks’ forward Brandon Saad behind the Predators’ net. He appeared unable to put weight on his right leg as he left the ice.

He had one assist in 13:25 of ice time in the Preds’ 6-2 victory to even the first-round series at 1-1. In the Game 1 double-overtime game, he logged 38:13 TOI.

The Preds captain’s absence means the likes of Seth Jones, Cody Franson and Ryan Ellis will be forced to step up to fill the void on the right side.

In other roster news out of Nashville, forward Mike Fisher will be joining the team. He’s considered day-to-day.

Game 3 is Sunday at 2 p.m. CT on NBC at United Center.
