2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs: SCH open thread May 13

The New York Rangers will try to make history when they host the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Madison Square Garden. No team in NHL history has rallied from a 3-1 deficit to win a best-of-seven series two years in a row. The Rangers completed the feat last year against the Penguins.

New York won 4-3 in Game 6 at Verizon Center on Sunday, and 2-1 in overtime in Game 5 at MSG this past Friday. The Rangers have won five consecutive Game 7s, and are also 13-3 in games when facing elimination since the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. The Capitals have struggled to close out games, losing 10 of their last 13 games when they have the chance to close out a series.

The Blackhawks‘ AHL affiliate, Rockford IceHogs will be in action when they look to climb out of a 2-0 series deficit against the Grand Rapids Griffins (Red Wings) in Game 3 of their Western Conference Semifinal at BMO Harris Bank Center. The Hartford Wolf Pack (Rangers) will look to take a 3-2 series lead when they visit the Hersey Bears (Capitals) for Game 5. The Oklahoma City Barons (Oilers) also host the Utica Comets (Canucks) in Game 4.
