This is probably the earliest I've woken up on New Year's Day in years, but I don't think anyone is complaining because THE 2015 WINTER CLASSIC IS ACTUALLY HERE. So polish off that hangover and get ready to ignore college football because the Blackhawks and Capitals are meeting at Nationals Park for a bit of outdoor hockey to kick off 2015.
For the NHL, this game is notable for more than just being outdoors and playing to a recent annual tradition, as it's also the first truly nationally televised game of the season in the U.S. We're getting the full NBC treatment for this game, which is admittedly nice after months of turning to NBC Sports Network, NHL Network or GameCenter.
The big thing to watch this morning was the game's start time, as officials have considered delaying the game due to sun glare in the early afternoon. However, we haven't got any word of a change yet from D.C., so it still sounds like we're going to be getting a 1 p.m. ET start for the game.
Here's all the information for the 2015 Winter Classic, let's hope it's a good one.
Time: 1 p.m. ET (barring a delay due to sun glare)
Location: Nationals Park, Washington, D.C.
TV: NBC (U.S.); CBC, TVA (Canada)
Radio: WGN 720 (Chicago)
