Through one period in Washington, the hometown Capitals lead the Blackhawks by a score of 2-1. The Caps had the better of the action to start the game, and got the opening goal on a breakway from Eric Fehr, and Alex Ovechkin added one a few minutes later to jump out to a 2-0 lead. The 'Hawks then got the game's first power play, and Patrick Sharp tallied on a big shit from the blue line early in the advantage. The 'Hawks seemed to build some momentum at the end of the period, and controlled some of the play. They'll start the second with a short man advantage, so hopefully they can cash in on that one and even the score.
Heres your second period game thread! Go 'Hawks!
