Scott Darling set to make his season debut against New York on Saturday night at the United Center.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Scott Darling will make his first start of the season in net when the Blackhawks host the Islanders in the second half a home-and-home series on Saturday at the United Center.

Darling was an excellent second option for Chicago (1-1-0) last season, posting a 9-4-0 record with a 1.94 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. Starting goaltender Corey Crawford gets a much deserved night off after picking up a 3-2 win over the Islanders (0-0-1) in overtime Friday in Brooklyn.

Darling had 38 saves in a 3-2 loss at Nassau Coliseum on Dec. 13.

Neither team held a morning skate after the late night, so lineup changes are possible. Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville is trying to figure out his defensive pairings and third line. Rookie Kyle Baun could possibly draw back into the lineup on the third line, where he made his NHL debut on opening night.

The Islanders could see rookie Jean-Francois Berube make his debut between the pipes. Starter Jaroslav Halak is out with an upper-body injury.

The Islanders have dropped four straight at the United Center, dating back to March, 15 2009.
