Blackhawks reassign Dennis Rasmussen to AHL

Versteeg's return is coming

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks reassigned forward Dennis Rasmussen to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League, the team announced Wednesday.

Rasmussen, 24, was recalled Jan. 25 and did not skate in any games. He was a healthy scratch for four consecutive games.

Rasmussen has eight goals and eight assists in 44 games for the IceHogs this season. He also scored once in three preseason games with Chicago.

The frees up a roster spot for Kris Versteeg, who is expected to return to the ice early during the Blackhawks next homestand. Versteeg was sidelined with a broken hand he suffered during the Winter Classic against the Washington Capitals on New Year's Day.
