2015 NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament features 7 Blackhawks prospects

The NCAA Tournament Selection Committee officially announced the brackets for the 2015 NCAA men's ice hockey tournament on Sunday.

The winner of the Midwest Regional will meet the winner of the East Regional in the Frozen Four, while the winners of the West and Northeast regionals will meet in the other semifinal at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. on April 9.

There will be seven Chicago Blackhawks prospects vying for a national championship, including at least one in each region.

North Dakota - West Regional, Scheel's Arena, Fargo, N.D., March 27-28

Freshman forward Nick Schmaltz, sophomore forward Luke Johnson and senior defender Nick Mattson each represent the No. 1 Sioux, who look for their first national title since 2000.

Schmaltz has 26 points (five goals, 21 assists) in 35 games, Johnson 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 39 appearances and Mattson with 20 points (four goals 16 assists in 30 outings this season.

The trio will play No. 4 Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. on Friday on ESPNU. No. 2 Michigan Tech vs. No. 3 St. Cloud State will play at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN3.

Yale - Northeast Regional, Verizon Wireless Center, Manchester, N.H., March 27-28

Sophomore John Hayden will lead the Yale Bulldogs against Jack Eichel, a projected No. 1 or No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NHL draft, and the No. 3 Boston University in the opening round at 1 p.m. on Friday on ESPNU. Hayden posted 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 28 games this season.

No. 2 Minnesota-Duluth vs. No. 3 Minnesota will play at 4:30 p.m. on ESPNU on Friday.

Nebraska-Omaha - Midwest Regional, Compton Family Ice Arena, South Bend, Ind., March 28-29

Freshman defenseman Luc Snuggerud will take the ice against Harvard in the opening round. Snuggerud scored 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 36 games this season.

No. 2 Nebraska-Omaha will play No. 3 Harvard at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU3 on Saturday. No. 1 Minnesota State vs. No. 4 RIT play before at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.

Miami (OH) - East Regional, Dunkin Donuts Center, Providence, R.I., March 28-29

Sophomore forward Anthony Louis will lead the No. 1 RedHawks against Providence in the opening round. Louis registered 34 points (eight goals, 26 assists) in 36 games.

Boston College

Sophomore forward Chris Calnan will lead the Golden Eagles against the University of Denver in the opening round. Calnan scored 16 points (11 goals, five assists) in 36 contests this season.

No. 1 Miami vs. No. 4 Providence at 5:30 p.m. on ESPNU on Saturday

No. 2 Denver vs. No. 3 Boston College at 2 p.m. on ESPN2 on Saturday
