The second round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs begins Thursday night.
The President Trophy winners New York Rangers open the second round at Madison Square Garden against the Washington Capitals. This marks the fourth time in the past five seasons these clubs have met in the playoffs and it's the fifth postseason encounter between the Blueshirts and Caps since 2009. New York won the two previous encounters in 2012 and '13, winning both series in seven games.
In the nightcap, the Anaheim Ducks host the red-hot Calgary Flames in a Pacific Division showdown at the Pond. It's Calgary's first time in the second round since 2004 when they won the Western Conference and eventually fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Ducks haven't made it past the semifinal round since winning its only Cup in 2007.
