Chicago Blackhawks release 2015-16 preseason schedule

The day before the Stanley Cup Final, we know the schedule for the 2015-16 preseason.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks will open the 2015-16 preseason against the Detroit Red Wings on Sept. 22 at the United Center. The team announced the full preseason schedule Tuesday, a day before the team takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Hawks will play three preseason home games, hosting the Red Wings, Blues and Stars, with the final preseason game coming Oct. 3 against Dallas.

It's a little strange to see the team announcing the preseason schedule right before trying to win a Stanley Cup, but if it's already set in stone you might as well give the fans and everyone else a jump start on buying tickets and such. These games might not mean anything but it should be interesting to see how the team looks by the fall.

Here's the full 2015-16 preseason schedule (all times CT):

Sept. 22: Red Wings at Blackhawks, United Center, 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 23: Blackhawks at Red Wings, Joe Louis Arena, 6:30 p.m.

Sept. 25: Blackhawks at Canadiens, Bell Centre, 6:30 p.m.

Sept. 26: Blues at Blackhawks, United Center, 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 1: Blackhawks at Blues, Scottrade Center, 7 p.m.

Oct. 3: Stars at Blackhawks, United Center, 7:30 p.m.
