Chicago forward looks to have obtained his visa.

Marcus Kruger is expected to join the Chicago Blackhawks in Montreal when they visit the Canadiens on Friday at the Bell Centre, coach Joel Quenneville told reporters after's the team's preseason opener Tuesday.

Kruger missed the Hawks' 5-4 overtime win over Detroit and will miss the second half of the home-and-home series Wednesday due to visa issues. Those same issues kept him from the team's three-day training camp at Notre Dame.

Kruger entered the offseason a restricted free agent and re-signed with the Hawks earlier this month on a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. The team always intended to bring the 25-year-old forward back, but needed to clear salary in order to fit his salary cap hit. Once the team traded forwards Kris Versteeg and Joakim Nordstrom to the Carolina Hurricanes, the space was freed to bring Kruger back into the fold.
