SCH Ice Cold Podcast: Season 2, Episode 1: Season Preview

With the 2016 season nearly upon us, Robert and Adam are joined by James Neveau to preview what’s to come for the Hawks in a new year.

NHL: Preseason-St. Louis Blues at Chicago Blackhawks Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

It’s over. It’s finally over. Our long nightmare has come to an end. This Wednesday will bring back six months of Blackhawks hockey (hopefully eight) as they look to return to the mountaintop.

With that in mind, Robert and Adam are joined by James Neveau of NBC Chicago and the Madhouse Chicago Hockey Podcast to touch on everything in a preview of the new Hawks season. Does Marian Hossa bounce back? What can we expect from the young players? All of that is answered and more.

The overall rundown:

  • Brief recap of the offseason’s biggest moments. The best and worst moves made by Chicago.
  • Which of the departed Hawks will they miss most? Which of the new guys is poised to make the most immediate impact?
  • What’s the level of patience with Ryan Hartman, Mark McNeill, and others?
  • Can Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin light the league on fire like last year?. Are they better apart? How are the Blackhawks best served here?
  • How do Brent Seabrook and Marian Hossa rebound from last season? Is rest and a “flexible” Trevor van Riemsdyk the answer?
  • General predictions: When does Hossa get his 500th goal? Where do the Hawks finish in the Central? Rough point estimate? Ultimately, how far do they go in the playoffs?
  • Netflix show recommendations: From ‘Timeless’ to ‘Designated Survivor’ and the method to the darkness behind Marvel shows like ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Luke Cage’.
  • Fantasy hockey advice: (Robert and Adam are in “heated” negotiations)

We’re back more than regularly with the season in full swing!
