Chicago Blackhawks prospects Luke Johnson and Nick Schmaltz will play in the 2016 Frozen Four for North Dakota on April 7 at Amalie Arena in St. Petersburgh, Fla.

The Fighting Hawks defeated Michigan and fellow Chicago prospect Tyler Motte, 5-2, in the Midwest Regional Final on Saturday afternoon at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. It is the third straight Frozen Four appearance for UND and 22nd overall. The Fighting Hawks are two wins away from their eighth national championship, and first since 2000.

UND is now 32-6-4 on the season under first-year coach Brad Berry. They will play the West Regional Champion next. Ferris State, who upset the No. 2 overall seed St. Cloud St., will play against the Boston University-Denver winner for the West championship.

Johnson, 2013 fifth-round pick, tallied a goal and Schmaltz, 2014 first-round pick, had two assists in UND's 6-2 opening round win over Northeastern and fellow Hawks' prospect Dylan Sikura, who did not record a point. Johnson added another goal against Michigan to bring his 42-game season total to 11 goals and 10 assists. Schmaltz has 10 goals and 34 assists in 35 games.
