The Arizona Coyotes center and former Blackhawk was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Anisimov in the second period. Vermette came from behind and hit Anisimov, who went head-first into the boards. The Hawks capitalized on the extended power play by scoring two goals.
Anisimov did not return for the rest of the game. He is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury, according to coach Joel Quenneville. His status for Thursday's regular-season home-finale against the St. Louis Blues is unclear.
The 27-year-old Anisimov has scored 20 goals with 22 assists in his first season with Chicago. He sits just two goals shy of tying his career-high.
