The Chicago Blackhawks selected defenseman Chad Krys with No. 45 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft on Saturday.

Krys, a Boston University commit, had three goals and 26 assists for 29 points in 53 games for the United States National Training Development Program under-18 team this season. During the 2014-15 season, the 5-foot-11, 183-pounder had three goals and 17 assists in 22 games. The left-handed shooting blue liner played in seven games for the USA at the World Junior Championships, but did not record a point.

Here's a breakdown from SB Nation College Hockey's Chris Dilkis:

Best case scenario involves Krys developing at Boston University over the course of his college career and learning how to harness his raw tools more effectively. If he does that, Krys has potential as a second pairing defenseman that can contribute on the power play and be a real offensive threat five-on-five because of his ability to jump into the rush.
