The Rockford IceHogs signed forward Bryn Chyzyk and goaltender Eric Levine to one-year AHL contracts on Thursday.
Chyzyk, 23, scored a career-high 12 goals with 10 assists in 42 games during his senior season at North Dakota. The 6-foot, 181-pound left-winger was an assistant captain for the national champion Fighting Hawks, and played with Chicago Blackhawks draft picks Luke Johnson and Nick Schmaltz, who have both signed entry-level contracts with the organization this summer.
Levine, 27, posted a 10-7 record with four shutouts, a 2.30 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage in 19 games for the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL. He also went 1-2 with the Pensacola Ice Flyers and Louisiana Gators, a team Hawks goaltender Scott Darling played for. The Wheeling, Ill. native has a 14-9-1 record in 29 ECHL games with the Fort Wayne Comets, Indy Fuel, Utah Grizzlies and Colorado since the 2014-15 season.
Chyzyk figures to slide into the second or third line, while Levine will take a backseat to presumptive starter Lars Johansson and Mac Carruth.
