While most attention is being paid to the World Cup of Hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks play their first game at the rookie tournament on Friday night. The matchup against the St. Louis Blues in Traverse City, Mich., will give team officials an early chance at evaluating some of the players who will be competing for spots on the NHL roster in training camp.

Before the game, the Hawks released the lines they'll be rolling out in the rookie opener. Here are those:

Forwards

Tyler Motte -- Nick Schmaltz -- Alex DeBrincat
Radovan Bondra -- Graham Knott -- Alexandre Fortin
John Dahlstrom -- Luke Johnson -- Roy Radke
Bryn Chyzyk -- Nathan Noel -- Trevor Mingoia

Defensemen

Gustav Forsling -- Jeff King
Robin Norell -- Dmitry Osipov
Carl Dahlstrom -- Justin Lemcke

Goalies

Jake Hildebrand
Brett Moran

So just for a couple thoughts: That first line with Motte, Schmaltz and DeBrincat seems like it should be a lot of fun to watch. Hopefully they put up some numbers like you'd expect a line with that much talent to do. We'll also be keeping an eye on what's up with Alexandre Fortin, the undrafted rookie who is trying to earn a contract with the Hawks before the start of the season. He's already been invited to the NHL training camp, which starts on Sept. 23, so he's clearly made an impression after playing well at the prospect camp in July. If he can continuing performing against top prospects from other teams in Traverse City, it could help cement the Hawks' decision to give sign him to an ELC.

The team says it'll be dropping a live stream link to game coverage a bit before the start time of 6 p.m. CT, so you'll actually be able to tune in if interested. Considering that top line, I might have to catch a period or two just to see what's up.
