2017 NHL draft results: Blackhawks select Evan Barratt with No. 90 pick

The Chicago Blackhawks selected forward Evan Barratt from the U.S. Hockey Developmental Program with the No. 90 overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. This was their fourth pick overall, and third pick of Day 2.

Barratt is a good two-way center who lacks elite size (5’11, 188 pounds) or speed, but brings a lot of skills to the table. He was ranked No. 57 among all prospects in the draft by ESPN’s Corey Pronman, and No. 83 by TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

Last season with the American U18 team, he recorded 56 points in 63 games as part of the development program. He also appeared in 26 USHL games, recording nine goals and 15 assists.

Barratt is set to attend Penn State next fall, which makes him the second Hawks draft pick this year heading to college later this year. Second-round pick Ian Mitchell will be at the University of Denver next season.

The Blackhawks have six picks remaining in the draft. Keep track of them all here.
