Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews was named the NHL’s first star for February on Wednesday.
Toews, 28, scored seven goals with 11 assists in 10 games during the month, leading the Hawks to a 9-1-0 record. Chicago only loss came after its mandatory bye week.
The Chicago captain recorded at least a point in nine of 10 games which included five multi-point performances. His biggest performance was Feb. 21 at Minnesota where he scored his fourth career hat trick and second career five-point game. It was his first five-point outing since Nov. 25, 2011 at Anaheim.
Toews has 46 points (16 goals, 30 assists) in 53 games this season. He has scored at least 54 points every season of his career save for the lockout shortened 2013 season when he recorded 48 points in 47 games.
