The Chicago Blackhawks have 10 games left in the regular season and are battling for playoff positioning. Each day until the end of the regular season, we'll breakdown their chances at a spot and seeding in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Sunday's results

The Blackhawks became the first Western Conference team to lock down a playoff spot Sunday with a win over Colorado and Los Angeles’ loss at Calgary. It’s the ninth consecutive season the Hawks will play in the postseason.

Minnesota’s struggles persisted with a failed comeback in Winnipeg resulting in the Wild’s fifth straight loss. The Alberta flip flopping continued as Calgary’s win saw the Flames move back into third place in the Pacific Division while idle Edmonton slid to the first wild-card spot.

Monday's scoreboard watch

If the playoffs were to begin Monday, the Hawks would be the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and play the second wild-card team - Nashville.

The Predators host Arizona and looks to move into third place in the Central. Nashville is tied with St. Louis at 81 points, but sits in the second wild-card position. The Blues and Predators have split the season series with St. Louis. Nashville has outscored the Blues 14-7 in four games.

On the Pacific side, San Jose can build its division lead when it visits Dallas. The Sharks hold a four-point lead over idle Anaheim for the top spot, but Calgary (86) and Edmonton (86) are lurking as well. Edmonton looks to duplicate the Flames’ performance Sunday when it hosts the Kings.
