Blackhawks to face high-flying Jets

Chicago has yet to pick up a point against Winnipeg this season.

Coming off their first win in eight games Wednesday, the Blackhawks look to continue their offensive attack when they face the Jets in a Central Division showdown Friday at the United Center.

Chicago hopes Corey Crawford can provide another spectacular performance in net after Wednesday’s 40-save outing against the Penguins for his sixth win this season.

Forward Dylan Sikura and defenseman Carl Dahlström looked strong in their season debuts, with Dahlström picking up his first point of the season on Andreas Martinsen’s first-period goal. Look for them to stay in the lineup Friday, with Artem Anisimov (concussion) and Gustav Forsling (shoulder) still on injured reserve.

Dominik Kahun jumps back to the top line with Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad, with Brendan Perlini shifting down to the third line. The second line of Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome and Patrick Kane has stuck together, with Strome adding five points in nine games since he was traded to Chicago.

Kane has a five-game point streak heading into Friday. With two goals and five assists, the winger is averaging 22:01 minutes of ice time on the season.

Defenseman Erik Gustafsson will draw back into the lineup for Brandon Manning after missing two games with an illness. Gustafsson has five goals and 13 points in 30 games this season.

The two Central Division teams saw each other just three days ago, when the Jets topped the Blackhawks 6-3 for Winnipeg’s second home win against Chicago this season.

Defenseman Josh Morrissey scored 41 seconds into overtime to lead the Jets to a 5-4 victory against the Oilers on Thursday night.

The Jets have been streaky, winning three straight games twice in an eight-game span. They’ve gone on an offensive tear with 18 goals during their current three-game win streak.

Star forward Patrik Laine is Winnipeg’s top gun with 22 goals in 31 games this season. The 20-year-old has already eclipsed the 100-goal mark with 101 goals in 185 games. He scored in the second period Thursday to snap a six-game scoreless drought.

With Connor Hellebuyck getting the start on the front end of the Jets’ back-to-back, look for backup Laurent Brossoit to be between the pipes Friday. He made 32 saves against Chicago earlier this week to improve to 6-1-1 with a .932 save percentage.
