Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome are roommates and self-described best friends and the chemistry they developed during their junior careers in the OHL was put on display Sunday night.
The duo connected on their second NHL goal together when DeBrincat gathered a pass from Corey Crawford before sending a feed to Strome, who lifted it past Mike Smith in the second period. DeBrincat also had a secondary assist on Strome’s goal Nov. 27.
It was the second goal of Strome’s career with the Blackhawks, who was traded along with Brendan Perlini in exchange for forward Nick Schmaltz in a swap for three former first-round draft picks. The goal also came on the power play and snapped the Blackhawks’ 0 for 14 skid on the man advantage.
DeBrincat and Strome both had 100-plus point seasons together during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons with the Erie Otters.
