The Blackhawks won back-to-back games for the first time since Oct. 23-25 with a 5-2 victory over the Stars on Thursday in Dallas. Chicago plays the Avalanche on Friday at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

The IceHogs visit the Chicago Wolves on Friday at Allstate Arena in Rosemont.

Elsewhere in Chicago sports, Cubs radio broadcaster Pat Hughes received a multi-year contract extension Thursday. The Fire announced two matchdays for 2019 — season opener March 2 against the Galaxy in Los Angeles and home opener March 9 against Orlando City.

The Bulls host the Magic on Friday at the United Center.
