Kurashev (2018 fourth-round draft pick) scored a goal and two assists in five games at last year’s tournament. The 6-foot, 192-pound center has 16 goals and 41 points in 30 games in his third season with the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL. He had 60 points (19 points, 41 assists) in 59 QMJHL games last season.
Switzerland edged out Belarus 3-2 to advance out of Group B to the playoff round last year. The Swiss then fell to eventual champion Canada, 8-2, in the quarterfinals. Switzerland hasn’t medaled since 1998, when they claimed bronze against the Czech Republic.
The tournament will run from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6 in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.
