The second day of the preliminary round at the World Championship with feature three Chicago Blackhawks players and two prospects.
In Group A, Artem Anisimov and prospect Maxim Shalunov will start the day for Russia against Austria. Both players scored in Russia’s 7-0 victory over France on Friday. Austria is coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to Switzerland on Saturday.
In the second slot of games, defenseman Erik Gustafsson and Sweden take on Czech Republic. Gustafsson had four shots on goal in 13 minutes, 47 seconds of ice time in Sweden’s 5-0 win over Belarus on Friday. The Czech Republic outlasted Slovakia 3-2 in overtime Saturday.
In Group B, prospect forward Dominik Kahun and Germany play against Norway. Kahun had two shots on goal and was 7 for 11 on faceoffs in 16:58 of ice time in Germany’s 3-2 shootout loss to Denmark on Friday. Norway enters the game after falling 3-2 to Latvia on Saturday.
Tomas Jurco and Slovakia will face Switzerland. Jurco had a team-high four shots in Slovakia’s OT loss to the Czech Republic in 18:06 of ice time.
Former Hawks
Forward Teuvo Teravainen and ex-defensman prospect Ville Pokka will suit up for Finland against Lativa. Teravainen is tied for the Worlds tournament points lead at four with Carolina Hurricanes teammate and countrymen Sebastian Aho along with U.S.’ Chris Kreider.
